Save Mom – ALSO in Africa is a 24-minute documentary made with Médecins Sans Frontières and supported by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs through Danida. It was shot in Denmark and the Ivory Coast.

The film follows Maria Milland, a Danish obstetrician, on her first posting with Médecins Sans Frontières. Before she leaves she attends ALSO training at the MSF offices in Copenhagen - ALSO is short for Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics, three intensive days. Then we follow her to the maternity ward at Katiola Hospital, where she meets the reality of pregnancy and childbirth in the Ivory Coast and has to put the techniques to use.

The film is about maternal mortality, and about how simple obstetric knowledge can save a life. We see it through Maria: her thoughts, her doubts and what she is up against. It was made to show other NGOs and decision makers what this training can do.

The premiere was at the Women Deliver conference in Copenhagen in May 2016.
