    "We're using our streets all wrong", an episode of Freethink's Hard Reset series about who cities are actually built for. The film argues that around 80 per cent of road space goes to cars while 90 per cent of the people using it are on foot, and uses Times Square as the case. Filmed with Gehl Architects. What I do

I direct brand films, portraits and campaign series for organisations whose job is to make a place attractive: regions, cities, destination organisations, investment promotion agencies and Nordic institutions.

Clients include Copenhagen Capacity, Invest in Skåne, Greater Copenhagen, Wonderful Copenhagen, Destination Nord, VisitAarhus, Visit Fyn, the Nordic Council and the Nordic Council of Ministers. I am based in Copenhagen and work across the Nordics.

A place branding film usually has more owners than any other kind of film. A region, a handful of municipalities, an investment agency and sometimes a neighbouring country all have to recognise themselves in the same two minutes.

Stakeholders

My job is to find the one story that holds it together and is still worth watching for someone who has never heard of the place. In practice that almost always means people rather than landscape.

  • I direct and produce films: campaign films, short documentaries, fundraising films, film series and TV spots.

    In short, this means that I deliver films from a-z, from idea to finished film, including concept and script, casting and locations, directing on set, edit, grade and sound.

    Some clients bring me in early to develop the idea. Others already know what they want and need someone who can deliver it.

  • The number of shooting days is the biggest single factor, followed by travel and crew size. A single-day film with a small crew and a multi-country series are very different budgets. Tell me what the film has to do and I will give you a realistic range before we go further.

  • Both. Some films need cinematic lighting and a full team. Others need two or three people who can move quickly and earn trust. I also shoot myself when the situation calls for it.
